About Terrie

Terrie Shipley, Ed.D., is a Tulsa-based independent educational consultant. She currently serves as visiting professor at The University of Tulsa and Associate Director of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative.


A California native turned Okie, Dr. Shipley earned a doctorate in Educational Administration from The University of Oklahoma. She also has a master’s in Education from Michigan State University and bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University. She is a member of the following professional organizations: HECA, NACAC, NACADA, and NASPA. Formerly, she was a Top 100 university admissions counselor, academic advisor, and student affairs officer.


Dr. Shipley has a passion for student development, social justice, and health & wellness. She was in Leadership Tulsa Class 46 and is currently serving on the board for the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice.

College Timeline




- Spring/summer is the time to finalize your college list, begin your main personal essay, and work on your student resume (if applicable). Also, be sure to register for the SAT or ACT (with writing) if you haven't already--you should be nearing your "final" score. 


- Common Application opens August 1


- Most Early Action/Early Decision deadlines are October 15, November 1, or November 15


- Most Regular Decision deadlines are January 1
